SWEET FRUIT AND VEGETABLE COCKTAIL

This is a mild and sweet tasting fruit and vegetable juice that everyone will love, even children.

Makes a little over 1 litre :

2 large cucumbers

1 large celery head

1 green bell pepper

a dozen carrots

2 green apples

2 inches / 5 cm fresh ginger root

3 limes or lemons

Wash your fruits and vegetables, cut them into pieces that your juicer can handle. Juice. Enjoy.

WARMING APPLE CARROT GINGER LEMON JUICE

Everybody loves apple and carrot juice. When I first got my Champion juicer years ago, I would literately make it everyday. It is a great combination for those starting out with fresh fruits and vegetables juices, and sweet enough for children too.

By adding ginger and lemon, you get a more grown-up version, delicious year round, but particularly appreciated on a cold morning.

Makes a little over 1 litre :

6 apples of your choice

a dozen carrots

2 inches / 5 cm fresh ginger root

3 lemons

Simply juice all your ingredients.

DRINK YOUR GREENS

For a little under 1 litre and a half :

2 large heads celery

2 large heads fennel

2 large green bell peppers

2 lemons

a small piece of fresh ginger root

1 tiny green chilli (optional)

Note: I usually find the addition of lemon is enough to make the green juices palatable to me. If lemon does not do the trick for you, please do add an apple or a pear.

HOT GREEN JUICE

Today’s green juice had metabolism booster red hot chilli.

  

For a little under 1 litre of juice :

1 cucumber

1 head fennel

1 head bok choi

1 small bunch fresh parsley

1 lemon

1 piece fresh ginger root

1/2 to 1 red chilli (hot !) optional – remove seeds

DETOX GREEN JUICE

Green juice is detoxifying, and today’s tremendously so.

It has no fruit, so virtually no sugar.

Even though cucumbers do not necessarily get as much press as other vegetables, they do have valuable antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer benefits.

Celery is a very good source of vitamin C, which helps support the immune system.

Bell peppers are very popular vegetable and are actually very nutritious : they are a good source of vitamin E and they have dozens of different carotenoids, including beta-carotene, which provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

With it’s vibrant colors, chard, like spinash and beet greens, is very rich in phytonutrients that are antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and support detoxification.

Lemons are rich in Vitamin C, giving them antioxidant and immune boosting properties. They also have antibiotic effects.

Turmeric is a very powerful anti-inflammatory that has been long used in both Chinese and Indian traditional systems of medicine.

Whole books have been written to praise the health benefits of garlic. To name a few, garlic has cardiovascular benefits, helps lower blood pressure, it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, it is naturally antibacterial and antiviral, it protects from cancer, it even improves iron metabolism and regulates the number of fat cells in the body !

For a little under 1 litre juice :

1 cucumber

1 celery head

1 green pepper

1 bunch chard (I used red chard)

2 lemons

fresh turmeric root, a piece double the size of a little finger

4 or 5 cloves garlic

Juice. Enjoy.

Question : Will my breath smell of garlic ?

Answer : No. But the turmeric will taint your nails yellow after cleaning up the juicer.

RED VEGETABLE JUICE

As I didn’t have enough greens this morning to make green juice, I made this simple but gorgeous red juice instead :

For 2 :

4 medium sized beetroots

2 celery heads

2 lemons

fresh ginger root, a piece about the size of a small finger

Juice. Enjoy.
